Download free humankind mac m18/8/2023 ![]() ![]() Meaning you have to then migrate everything to Metal for Macs futher adding development problems as you have to maintain 2 rendering pipelines instead of 1. But devs basically know that OpenGL is on life support and Apple is more than likely going to rug pull OpenGL too (since they've already doing teh rug pull for 32-bit, then digital signing, then M1 so like OpenGL dying is a given at this point). And does it make sense for steam to make an M1 client and then basically be stuck with a mac library of like 5 games that are even playableĪlso the work to make an M1 build is further complicated because most games use OpenGL to provide cross platform graphics. So you end up in a situation where at soem point in the future, either now or later, you're going to get a major rug pull from Apple where basically your entire Mac steam library becomes unusable. ![]() So the steam client would at best show you the 5 or so games with M1 native buiilds and the rest of your steam mac library would be unusable. So far there is no M1 client for steam, which is complicated because like how do you display things because technically there are no M1 games yet (other than a literal handful of M1 games). Basically even if the build exists you can't access it because the steam client eventually wont work on M1. So you end up in a situation where even if you put the effort to make an M1 build, what happens when Rosetta2 gets removed by Apple and steam no longer works. Sort of on a side note: An M1 mac build for any game on steam is in a weird state, because right now the steam client itself only works via Rosetta2. The M1 Mac build is taking longer due to the complexities of converting the build over to support M1 Macs ![]() Note there is an Intel Mac build available to all users ![]()
